Fireworks will light the night sky on the second last night of every voyage during Norwegian Breakaway’s inaugural summer season out of New York.

Inspired by the ship’s headline Broadway show “Rock of Ages”, the fireworks display will be the finale to a 1980s-themed deck party in the open-air ‘Spice H20’ venue on the aft of the 4,000-passenger ship.

The display will be choreographed to a playlist of 80’s classics including: “Whip It” by Devo; “Cherish” by Madonna; “Final Countdown” by Europe; and “Purple Rain” by Prince.

“All the incredible entertainment and amenities on Norwegian Breakaway are going to wow our guests,” Norwegian Cruise Line CEO Kevin Sheehan said.

“We wanted one additional element that would really blow them away and this incredible fireworks show is going to take the cruise to a new level of excitement.”

Norwegian Breakaway will arrive in her homeport of New York City on 7 May 2013 after sailing on a transatlantic voyage from Southampton and will commence weekly summer seven-day cruises to Bermuda on 12 May 2013.

From October 2013 until April 2014, she will sail on voyages from New York City to the Bahamas, Florida and the Southern Caribbean.
