Rugby League legend, Billy Slater, recently returned from a romantic yet adventurous trip to South Africa with his wife Nic, where they went shark cage diving, horse riding along a beach and devoured the renowned food and wine of the Rainbow Nation.

Travelling through Johannesburg and Cape Town, Billy and Nic ticked many items off their Bucket Lists while also meeting many of the friendly locals, visiting a local school and visiting some world class properties including the Taj Hotel in Cape Town, Sanbona and Grootbos Wildlife Resorts.

“Nic and I had such a great time in South Africa. The country is remarkably beautiful, the food and wine is so diverse and full of flavour and the people so warm and welcoming,” said Billy Slater.

“There are so many different things to experience. We went horse riding along the beach at Grootbos, were blown away on our game drive in Sanbona and Nic even met a fifty year old tortoise at Cape Point.”

“We then got our adrenaline pumping during our shark cage drive in Gaansbai. Shark Cage diving is definitely something Aussies should add to their Bucket Lists; it’s an experience you will never forget,” added Billy.

Lalie Ngozi, South African Tourism General Manager Australasia, is very proud of her homeland and was delighted to hear that Billy and Nic got to experience just some of the amazing activities on offer in South Africa.

“South Africa is one of those unique destinations where you can tick off many of those items on your Bucket List while enjoying amazing culture, landscapes and food and wine along the way.

“Like Billy and Nic, we invite Australians to visit our country and experience for themselves the beauty and surprises on offer. There has never been a better time with Table Mountain just recently announced as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature,” said Ms Ngozi.

“Travelers can do more than safari with wildlife in South Africa, they can have fun with their food and wine, take in our incredible landscapes and diverse cultures, get their adrenaline pumping and with an excellent exchange rate, there’s no reason not to,” added Ms Ngozi.
